Romney Becomes Second GOP Prez Candidate To Blast Rush
Mitt Romney becomes the second GOP Presidential candidate to denounce Rush Limbaugh with this statement sent to the Huffington Post by Romney spokesman Kevin Madden:
"Governor Romney would disagree with the negative characterization of those men and women who serve with honor and distinction in the United States Military. There may be disagreements with individual opinions, but no one would ever dispute the fact that those members of the military who disagree with the war have earned the right to express that opinion."
Rudy? Are you there?

Mitt's Sister Soulja moment. Too bad nobody cares.
I'm sure Rudy will make a statement denouncing Rush as soon as he can figure a way to work 9/11 into it. Then a few months from now he'll claim that 9/11 made him denounce Rush when he shouldn't have, and that 9/11 makes him realize that we're living in a 9/11 world, and the soldiers who want an end to the war weren't there at 9/11 like he was....on 9/11.

Democrats jumped on the Rush Limbaugh thing, thinking they had an openning here. By promptly denouncing Rush from the WH down to Romney, it only makes the Democrats look bad because most of Democratic leadership, including my supporting candidate, Hillary Clinton, did not denounce the stupid wording by MoveOn. Rush Limbaugh is an evil genius. The contrast here cannot be clearer. I am shaking my head here.

That's hardly a denunciation. Its about as mild as you can get without sticking to "no comment"
Donald from Hawaii wrote on September 29, 2007 2:56 AM:For years, I've never given a rat's ass about Rush Limbaugh. His comments and opinions, as well as those of his dwindling number of "dittoheads", mean nothing to me.
Such fools will always say and do foolish things; I can't stop them, so why empower them -- at least in my own mind -- with unwarranted attention?
The man will soon enough be consigned to the dustbins of history, no more significant than Father Charles Coughlin, a truly mean-spirited fascist whose radio show in its 1930s heyday commanded a far larger audience per capita than Limbaugh ever has or ever will.

I personally feel humbled by your by being on the same blog that you once occupied. So funny to think of your superior walk while you blissfully stride not even knowing you had been punked by media matters.

What, and the rest of us haven't? I didn't know that rights to things like freedom of speech had to be earned.

The stupider, the blander, the more irrelevant the "denunciation"-------the better it plays with the republican rank and file, and also the republican high rank.
I am impressed with Romney's political instincts on this.
I didn't see "Rush" or "Limbaugh" anywhere in Romney's aide's twaddle, although the timing links it to Limbaugh.
How about a good reporter asking Romney himself if he condemns "Rush Limbaugh?" And condemns Rush Limbaugh's fans who agree with Rush Limbaugh about "phony soldiers" and who disagree with Romney?

What Rush said about "Phony soldiers" was in reference to soldiers who criticize the war and their part and are not in the military. The said soldier said he saw and did things that could and should be considered unforgivable for anyone in uniform. But this bozo was not even Iraq. Lets all get the facts straight before we all go on a tangent. Another so called left wing darling in the military wrote articles about atrocities he either saw or participated in while in uniform. As it turns out he wasn't even there. So would somebody explain to me how calling someone a phony soldier would not apply! Mr. Limbaugh has always been a staunch supporter of our men and women in uniform. After all they give us the right to make stupid and inane comments.

Rush was talking about "soldiers" like Jesse MacBeth who was recently the subject of an ABC News segment on men who lie about their service records. He admitted it in court and was convicted for telling people he was a Ranger and comitted atrocities while the truth was he never made it out of Basic Training.
Fred issued a statement condemning the ham-handed smear attempt while Romney bought it.
Romney is a fool. He just beat the final nail into his coffin. Though I'm sure he'll issue a different statement by the end of the week...after all he is the Slick Willie of the Republican Party.

Such as this one. Scott Beauchamp was in the military, and in Iraq, no matter what you thought of what he wrote.
Lynn, I never criticized anyone who served in the military and does not agree with the war in Iraq. So please don't put words in my mouth. I was referring to those who criticize and never served but pretended to be there such as Jessie MacBeth. Have a great weekend and remember out troops who will die for your right to criticize them!!
