Guess Who's Coming To Lunch? Bill Clinton!
Talk about one-upmanship.
Not long ago Barack Obama's campaign came up with the idea of raising money by selling prospective donors the chance to have a private dinner with him.
Earlier this week the Hillary campaign announced a similar idea, selling prospective donors the opportunity to have lunch with her.
And now comes the coup de grace from Camp Hillary -- it turns out that the lucky donor who wins that contest will be lunching not just with Hillary, but with Bill, too! Bill has just emailed out a fundraising letter containing this:
I hear you might be having lunch with Hillary -- do you mind if I drop in?I know Hillary would be the best president, and you know she's ready to change America. So why not help her win today? The campaign will choose one supporter to have lunch with Hillary and me -- along with a guest -- and if you make a contribution by midnight Friday, September 7, it might just be you.
...if you give between now and Friday, you and your guest could have a meal and a conversation with Hillary. And I'll be joining you.
Somewhere, David Broder is grumbling.

Perhaps he should change his name to David Jones, to better reflect the fictional reporter in the Dylan song:
"There's something happening here and you don't know what it is, do you Mr. Jones"

Obama never supported the war. Hillary, now doesn't support the war. Obama voted to fund the troops, Hillary follows his lead and votes to fund the troops. Obama says nukes are off the table and then Hillary after first lieing concedes that nukes should be off the table. Obama's campaign message is change and now Hillary's campaign message is change. Obama has a lottery for donors to dine with him and now here comes Hillary with a lottery to dine not just with her but Bill as well. This is not leadership.
For 200 years the United States has changed when we need to. FDR spoke to Stalin, Kennedy to Kruschef, Nixon to the Chinese and Reagan to the Russians. Not until HRClinton and especially GWBush did we decide not to talk to our adversaries. Obama is the bridge to the future. Clinton is a bridge to world isolationism, global outsourcing and a dissipation of America's standing and strength as a global superpower. A strong country and a strong President have no problem talking to our enemies as well as our allies.
HRClinton lacks the ability to restore America to what it was under WJClinton and the leadership to move and lead the way forward to all America can be.
If HRClinton was a truly serious candidate for change and the future, why campaign with and use Bill for dinner dates when he so clearly represents the past?.
