Craig Refusing To Say If He'll Resign As Promised

So will Larry Craig resign on September 30, as promised, if his guilty isn't overturned by then? He's now refusing to say:

Idaho Republican Sen. Larry Craig declined to say Tuesday whether he would resign his seat as planned if his guilty plea stemming from a Minneapolis bathroom sex sting is not overturned this week.

“We are waiting for the legal determinations and I have nothing more to say,” Craig told reporters Tuesday.

The senator would not comment on what he would do if the court case were not decided by Sunday, the original date of his planned resignation from the Senate.

Which is odd, because his own spokesperson explicitly said that if his plea weren't overturned by September 30, he would in fact step down.

Oh, please, Larry, stay. STAY! OH, GOD, STAY!!!

A Republican convicted of a crime going back on his word?

Instead of "odd", I assume you meant to type "buisness as usual", right?

I fervently hope Larry stays. And I think there's actually some wiggle room for Wide Stance. Looking back at TPM's reporting, from the AP piece comes this:

The only circumstances in which Craig might try to complete his term, Whiting said, would require the overturning by Sept. 30 of his conviction for disorderly conduct in a men's room at the Minneapolis airport, as well as Senate GOP leaders' agreement to restore Craig's committee leaderships posts taken away this week.

Those scenarios are unlikely, Whiting said.

He said they're "unlikely", but not impossible. And the whole "overturning by Sept. 30"--sheesh. Wasn't September supposed to be the magical month where every problem was solved? Now March is the magical month! Maybe Larry's keeping the same kind of calendar?

what Mike Bakunin said!

STAY, LARRY, STAY!

I know the voters of Idaho sure appreciate being represented by a closeted cocksucker with no committee assignments.

Yeh... and if you can't believe a politician... who Can you believe?

In fact, it has been a long time since I have actually believed ANYTHING a senator or congressman/woman has told me. The only thing I can do is look at their past and see if they have consistently told the truth. Sorry to say... I haven's seen any recently.

IK believe this is the reason we continue the downholl slide. As long as we vote folks in who have been less than honest with the voter and gave up integrity for power, our slide is inevitable and the higher offices in our government will attract liars and thieves. It will only change when we begin to put integrity ahead of specific goals for our nation.

Most of "We the People" are sincere in our desire to have an honest government, but our sincerety stops short of our actions at the booth. We apparently want folks in office who will lie to us more than those we can actually believe... IMHO

I wish Craig would just stop all the toe tapping and finally decide what he's going to do. His stance is too wide, he needs to narrow it and make a stand.

Larry's taking a wide stance on his tenure in the Senate.

I'm calling him Larry double wide stance, one for the stall and the other for his flip flop on resigning.

Keep us guessing, Larry.

Don't ask, don't tell.
