Romney Reveals He's Worth As Much As $250 Million

Mitt Romney reveals in his financial disclosure forms today that he's worth between $190 million and $250 million, much of it from investments in banks, foreign corporations and real estate.

But unlike in Edwards' case, of course, Romney's wealth won't be an issue in the campaign. Why? Because he hasn't made poverty a central cause and because he supports policies that advance the financial interests of himself and his class.

Or something like that.

exactly right.

someone worth 250 million as a venture capitalist proposing tax cuts for himself and his childre is A. OKAY with the corporate media - he's probably a man of the people..

but Edwards who is about average worth of the presidential candidates gets special treatment.

Among the beltway classes there's no shame in being rich from inheritance. It's rising from poverty by hard work that conservatives just can't abide.

Hamilton, Jefferson and other early Presidents who held a level of wealth ransomed all they had to create the America Experiment.

Teddy Roosevelt championed the middleclass.

FDR turned back tide of ecomonic feudalism.

JFK told the rich to go out into the world and do good works.

There have always been wealthy folk willing to change the course of our nation in favor of those less fortunate.

Edwards came from humble beginning and built a fortune AND America is goning to punish him because he is doing the correct thing.

Someone needs to stop reading the revised White House website history pages . . . This a fascist plutocrat (bullshit) story and we are giving it weight by repeating it.

Where is George Lakoff and his book, 'Moral Politics' when we need it?

If I remember correctly a few years ago George Bush spoke at a DC convention of movers and shakers in media. Editors, publishers and that ilk. They were nonplussed until he mentioned his plan to do away with the estate tax. For that he got a standing ovation. That's all you really need to know about the state of the free press these days.

How did he go from strapping the family dog on top of the car for a 12-hour drive to $250 million? What did he do?

Edwards made his fortune in law.

What did Mitt do? That's what I want to know. That's what every American who has ever driven his family twelve hours because they can't afford plane tickets wants to know. How do you go from driving the Wagonqueen Family Truckster to $250 million?

Shine a light on this story, please. I suspect any number of inside deals took place. It's all part of the process of political grooming - the Republican welfare state.

Wasn't it Rudy who ranted last week about how the Republican Party is the party of winners and that he likes to be rich and the Dems hate rich people? I think we're poised for more class warfare from the right during this campaign. And I think Romney's old money - did right by it and grew the family fortune pretty quickly but still, he didn't start from scratch. They very seldom do.
