Poll: Bush Approval Lower Than Cheney's
It's hard to imagine that anyone in public life is less popular than Dick Cheney, but a new poll finds that one politician has managed to pull it off: George W. Bush.
Take a look at these numbers in this week's new Washington Post/ABC News poll:
Bush
Approve 33%, Disapprove 65%Cheney
Approve 34%, Disapprove 59%
The last time we know of that a poll found Bush worse off than Cheney was back in January, when a Fox News poll put President Bush's personal unfavorability at 58%, compared to Cheney's 53%.
Meanwhile, the poll also finds that Congress' approval rating is 37%, which is dismal but not as bad as Bush's or Cheney's. Congressional Republicans, however, are faring significantly worse than Congressional Democrats:
Congressional Republicans Approve 34%, Disapprove 64%Congressional Democrats
Approve 46%, Disapprove 51%

If I remember correctly, this breakeven on congressional Dems is a significant change from recent results. The Dems haven't really accomplished much that would tilt their ratings so dramatically, so I have to think it's the investigations of the Bush administration that are making the difference. We see once again that what the people want is a Congress that stands up to Bush. I think the more they stand up, including censure and impeachment, the higher their ratings will go.
More immediately, it seems likely that this bump has a lot to do with the Dems forcing a filibuster on ending the Iraq occupation. Let's hope this gives them the courage to keep on resisting the neo-fascist revolution.

Dick's ratings must be a blip. From my personal polling most Americans would like to pour a beer over Bush's head these days but Cheney they'd like to kick out of the bar for good.

Yes. Too bad we won't hear any of that from the talking heads on the TeeVee, who keep saying things like "Voters are very dissatisifed with Congress" without making a distinction between attitudes towards both parties.
Oh well. Who gives a crap? The Republicans ignore these numbers, and keep touting their delusions, at their own peril.

These insanely high numbers on Boosh/The DICK (I'll leave it to you to decide if I'm being sarcastic).... is this why the Democratic "leadership" is so afraid to cut off funding for the Iraq invasion? Are they petrified of that tsunami-like 33% "backlash" sure to come their way?
Seriously.... I'm still trying to understand why Pelosi, Reid, and the rest of the spineless congressional Dems are so afraid to do what they've been given a mandate to do. The 33% of the remaining lobotomized that still oppose them are *STILL* going to oppose them long after time itself ends. For whatever reason, the Democratic "leadership" seems incapable of understanding this.

Scan through the postings here and elsewhere on TPM or presumably most any lefty website. You will find no shortage whatever of folks frightened senseless even now by the Bush bogeyman with the specter of Karl Rove hovering in the background.
Leading by following leads to people wandering around in circles with no forward motion.
Hillary told the truth for once in the debates. She ain't no liberal.
Best, Terry
