Cheney Drops To New Low Of 30% In Gallup Poll
Dick Cheney has sunk to a new low – in a new Gallup Poll, that is. The Gallup survey finds Cheney's approval rating at 30 percent, down four points from last month and a record low for a vice president since Gallup started in 1945.
Even more surprisingly, his job approval among Republicans, although higher, is also at its lowest point yet – 57%. His approval rating among independents is a dismal 26% – barely one in four.
In a trifecta of sorts, Cheney's overall favorability rating is also at its lowest point yet. Only 30 percent say they have a favorable impression of him, down from 37 percent in January. His unfavorable rating is 62 percent.

I derive no comfort from this information. The guy has nothing to lose and is as close to dying as any public figure since Telly Savalas or Dick York. He seeks atonement on his deathbed and the world continues on.

As one who hated his croaky, power-hungry ass before he was even in Congress . . . I have trouble understanding how anyone has any non-negative opinion of him . . .

I'd thought Cheney's approval rating had been assessed below 20%.

Yeah, I remember a figure around 19% a long time ago. At any rate, it's long past time to impeach this psychopath. Call your congressperson and urge them to co-sponsor Kuchinich's articles of impeachment bill.

Big deal - he's still not subject to oversight as a part of the executive branch of government, even though one of his aides has now been CONVICTED of spying for a foreign entity (Philipines). FAXING secrets directly from Cheney's office??? How was this kept secret? ...silly question

C'mon, Dick Cheney is loved the world over by the people HE cares about. From AQ Khan's home in Pakistan to gated communities in Dubai to boardrooms in Houston he's revered as a statesman with a clear vision of the future.
It may be a vision of a holocaust most of us are trying to avoid but they figure they'll make it in good shape and they think they'll have him to thank.

The latest CBS News poll found that only 18 percent of the public has a favorable view of Cheney.
That 2006 WaPo article goes on to mention that Cheney suffers in comparison to Michael Jackson, OJ Simpson, Josef Stalin (via Russians!) and Spiro Agnew.
Feh. Polls.

Diatribes against Cheney, Bush, Rice, Rummy, et.al. are feckless. It just builds more angst in the choir. We have to do something revolutionary or they'll just keep cashing in on power; their primary motivation for being in politics and government in the first place.
We've called our congressmen and senators and written the local newspapers and called friends and contributed to our favorite candidates for over 5 years now... AND NOTHING HAS CHANGED: WE ARE STILL KILLING AND BEING KILLED. Dick Cheney is getting richer and more powerful and less popular...ho-hum. As if he even cared.

It may make us feel good to know that more and more of the US voting public are coming around to our point of view in regards to Bush and his crowd, but it's important to remember that these people are part of a political perfect storm of circumstances, and believe that this is their time to reach for everything they have ever wanted politically. A little thing like bad poll numbers has not, and will not stop them for grabbing for as much as they want, consequences be damned.
