Bloomberg Appears To Rule Out Presidential Bid – Really!
New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg this morning gave an interview to ABC News in which he really, truly, seriously appeared to rule out a Presidential run.
Here's what Bloomberg said:
"I'm going to fill out my term as mayor of the city of New York, and not run for president," he said. "But … I live in this country. I'm one of 300 million people and I think that I have an obligation to speak out."Bloomberg in the past has said that he isn't running, but routinely stopped short of explicitly ruling out the possibility. Here, however, he said: "I'm going to...not run for President."
Right?

One would think so.
But why does he have his own website, then?

I have my own website. That doesn't mean that I'm running for President.
Of course, I could be persuaded....

I found his original denial sufficient. It's the media that refuses to accept it.
Same with Gore. He's not running.

Well, if I google "goethean2008" will it lead me to your website?
He launches Mike2008 yesterday, and says today he's not running. It's a little too coy for my taste.

lj629 is right. Bloomberg is not running. I think he is much too smart to get sucked in by the hype.
And alas, Gore is not running either.

I wish they'd both run. Either is probably better than anyone we have in the race now. Gore's a visionary with a profound undersatnding of government, and Bloomberg is a superb manager who isn't constrained by any of the partisan dichotomies and obligatory special-interest ring-kissing.
