Chris Dodd Hits Airwaves

New Chris Dodd ad on global warming:

Just as with his earlier ad on Iraq, Dodd clearly is trying to stake out ground as bolder, more radical and less fearful than his more cautious Dem rivals when it comes to advocating solutions to the biggest of the big problems. Of course, John Edwards has already planted a fair amount of his own flags on this turf, on topics ranging from Iraq to global warming to Internet availability. Can Dodd make inroads?

The in the bold competition he's still behind Edwards. But he's going to be putting some real pressure on Richardson for the guy-waiting-in-the-wings spot. Richardson needs a really good performance at Sunday's debate.

Both Edwards and Dodd were in the Senate so shouldn't we be considering how "bold" they were in the Senate. I'm not asking for passage of landmark legislation, but what about amendments or even failed proposals. For some reason I can't get passed the idea that "actions speak louder than words". If actions don't match rhetoric then the person is probably pandering or was too cowardly to try to do what they say.

We do have records to examine and its a shame that we take everything candidates are saying at face value. I'd like to see some of the candidates who have actually tried what they are talking about in their campaign. Or at least give hints that they wanted to try. Clinton failed on healthcare, but at least she tried. Clark took heat for pressuring us into Kosovo. Richardson's done a lot as Govenror and diplomat. What are these Senators tangible attempts?

They didn't build a Frankenstein monster like Hillary Clinton that actually threatened to make a horrendous health care system worse.

Best, Terry

Dodd has real possibilities as a front runner. Can anyone cite his downsides?
