What? How many people does he know at a random VFW? We're supposed to cut him slack every time he talks to a right-wing, kill 'em all, bombs away nut job in the GOP primary (see the questioner in the Bomb Iran video). Not happening.

This drives me crazy...

Since when is blowing people up a "joke"?!?! When you think about the reality of bombing any place, it is a gruesome, horrific scenario where many innocent men, women, and children are slaughtered. What in the world is funny about that?!?!?

How would McCain react if some other would-be leader in the world sang about bombing the US? What if it was your neighborhood, with your family and friends perishing? Is that a joke then?!?!

Ughhh...where did we all learn to be so numb and disconnected from the realities of war and violence? Why are so many of us so incapable of applying these scenarios to our own lives, putting ourselves in the other guy's shoes? Where did we learn its okay to joke about death and destruction? It's disgusting and disheartening.

McCain himself has really spiraled into a joke of a man, especially lately. There was a time when I at least had some respect for him. But ever since he let W role over him and his family, I feel a bit ill whenever I see him. The man can't stand up for his family, but he's going to protect this country? Please...

user-pic

I used to respect McCain, too. Now, I can hardly believe that was ever the case.

user-pic

Your respected him in 2000 because you had the good sense to know Bush needed to be stopped. I do wonder what McCain would have done after 9/11 or Al Gore for that matter. I think McCain would have had a lot of "boots on the ground" in Afghanistan and we'd still wind up with a mess there. Gore is a puzzle; he was so hawkish in the Senate and the Clinton Administration was as hawkish as they could be, IMO.

user-pic

Nah, that's cool. And when McCain's not president after the 08 elections, I have no problem with him hanging out with his old vet buddies and telling dumb jokes all day long.

As a victim/veteran of the Nixon-Kissinger Fig Leaf Contingent (Vietnam 1970-1972), I have never respected Bomber John McCain or any other of my fellow Vietnam Veterans in Congress (unfortunately, just about all of them) who conveniently forgot all about Lyndon "Gulf of Tonkin" Johnson and Richard "Peace With Horror" Nixon, thereby stupidly letting a dwarf dyslexic chimpanzee like Deputy Dubya Bush make monkeys out of them.

Anyway, I've got two recent poems about Mad Dog Bomber John: namely, "Up Yours, John McCain!" and "A Disowned Heir Transparent" at http://www.themisfortuneteller.blogspot.com for those who like their vitriol in verse. In his palpably pathetic pandering after the commander-in-chief's silly little Napoleonic baton, John McCain has now proved conclusively that he doesn't have a life worth living. Oh, how I do hope the rabid reactionary Republicans nominate this fatuous fraud in 2008. That stinking dead albatross necklace of Iraq that he proudly wears around his flabby neck ought to really turn out the votes in Utah.

user-pic

Instead of get a life, John McCain needs to get a newspaper and read about the bombings in Baghdad and Bush's threats against Iran. Then he can get a life that's in touch with reality and get himself out of la-la-land.

"Get a life". Hilarious! If an Iranian politician running for Prime Minister had made an analogous joke about the USA, the planes would be in the air, as we speak.

The breathtaking cluelessness of those who have wedded themselves to the Bush Administration would be hilarious if it weren't for the awful consequences.

user-pic

awesome, yeah please keep saying things like this mr. mcgoo. it really save the rest of us the work required to discredit you. DIY baby...

user-pic

Oh it's just an old Klan joke among friends. Lighten up and get a life !

user-pic

And the hits just keep on coming:

"Mad Dog John McCain Bombs Again"

Get a life, John McCain: Now. Tonight.
We're so sick of you and all your slogans trite
Face it: you lost back in 'Nam
So you'll never sell your scam
That if given one more chance you'll do it right

You couldn't fly a plane to save your ass
Now you want to peddle jokes of bombing crass
Seems your time spent in the clink
Never caused you much to think
Of the people down below whom you would gas

Not a pretty sight, your abject lack of grace
Seems some stitches you should once again replace
Then each time you kiss the bum
Of some vicious right-wing scum
You'll get less sh*t on your sagging, lifted face

Don't you know when you're not wanted, John McCain?
Have you no conception of the grief and pain
That your hero George has wrought
Even though he never fought
In the war that you forgot for your own gain?

Why on earth do you suppose that we would choose
Such a reckless fool as you to light the fuse
Of another needless crime
That you'd start to pass the time
Just until you show another way to lose?

Oh, I hope you get that nomination soon
Then your party can collapse into a swoon
From the stench that fills the air
Of that albatross you wear
Dead as your career: a clueless, crude cartoon

IMHO, McCain is showing his immaturity and warmongering side so very clearly that it is difficult for anyone to take him seriously -- if they have their mammalian brain engaged and operational.

This "joke" of his is right up on the scale there as Bush's taunting "Bring 'em on" and looking for the lost WMD under his desk.

Both of these guys -- McCain and Bush -- are pathetic examples of leadership.

user-pic

Then each time you kiss the bum
Of some vicious right-wing scum

This rhyme is applicable to sooo many republicans.

user-pic

... especially McCain.

This "ha-ha" moment should tell everyone that something has happened to the McCain of old. What, is unknown at this point, though IT is disappointing.

I haven't heard the song, but people joke about violence or use violent imagery to express feelings all the time. For instance, people often say I'm going to kill you as a way of expressing anger even though they don't mean it.

McCain may hate Iran, and like alot of Americans feel frustration with our lack of ability to respond to Iran and he expressed that with a song about bombing Iran. It hardly means that he favors bombing Iran and to say it does is really obtuse.

Making such a big deal out of stuff like this is the kind of thing that lost liberals the support of the public in the 90s.

It's been amazing and disappointing over the last week to see how quickly and strongly the Left's tendency toward the panacea of political correctness can reassert itself once the Left has a taste of popular support -- a support that won't last long if this continues.

Too long to post here, but "Boobie Mirror on the Stall" (at http://www.themisfortuneteller.blogspot.com) takes aim at Mad Dog John McCain's two-idiot idols: namely, Five-Deferment Dick and AWOL Dubya, who've taught the "distinguised" veteran why staying out of the fighting while feathering ones own nest beats doing time at the Hanoi Hilton -- or even just the standard grunt twleve-month combat tour -- any day or month or year or decade of a chickenhawk's lovely life.

One of my least favorite Beach Boy songs, too.

McCain is right--we don't want a country in which politicians can't be ordinary people, clown around, say things off the cuff... Because when all politicos are controlled by teleprompters we will never know what they really think.

For example, I now believe that McCain is really nutty enough to go to war with Iran. That's worth knowing...

user-pic

But we already knew McCain was nutty because of his stance on Iraq and his walk through that Baghdad market.

What would be the reaction if an Iranian leader was seen joking about bombing the US?  In fact, other than that buffoon, Ronald Reagan, what national leader would ever joke about bombing any country?  It is what kids in high school do.

And McCain's response, once he was called out: Iranians? Who cares about them? Shows his complete ignorance of how to be a leader.  He just discounted an entire population. I guess many years ago he had to tell himself that it was okay to bomb villages full of families who were not our enemy in order to kill some of our enemy.

He allowed the Bush machine to humiliate McCain's family, and then he eventually kissed GW's and Jerry Falwell's asses; all that was left of McCain's manhood disappeared.

McCain is beyond the status of loser; he is ready for an Assisted Living Facility.  He can play bingo and beat everyone in sight.  That may be enough to keep him out of trouble.

SAE

Let's not be politically correct here.

user-pic

What does that mean? Is it PC to say that McCain is just a saggy wet paper sack of his former self?  Even if it's true?

If you want to go the PC way, you call McCain a hero; a patriot; a maverick; someone who should be respected because he got shot down in Vietnam.  None of which has to do with McCain today.

Anything having to do with his behavior in the last 10 years can't enter the discussion?
