National Dems Targeting Young's Florida House Seat

National Dem strategists are aggressively searching for someone to run for C.W. Bill Young's Florida House seat, which is shaping up as one of the DCCC's top targets for a Dem takeover, today's St. Petersburg Times reports.

A DCCC recruiter recently met with potential candidates, including former state House Speaker Peter Wallace, former state Rep. Lars Hafner, and businessman and neighborhood activist Karl Nurse. Young is 76 and would be running for a 19th term -- and whether or not he retires, DCCC strategists think the seat's in play.

"Regardless of whether he retires, we think this is a highly competitive seat. It's definitely one of our top targets," The DCCC's Kyra Jennings tells the paper. "After 37 years in Washington people get out of touch with their district and don't represent it the way the people deserve." Full story here.

If the DOJ does its job, Rep. C. W. "Bill" Young should be on the hot seat shortly. His daughter-in-law, Cynthia Young, was listed as an executive of defense contactor, Galaxy Scientific, when she made a contribution to Rep. Robert Andrews (D-NJ)in 2004.

At the time, Young supposedly was partners in a lobbying firm, Grimes & Young, with Media PA real estate agent-turned-lobbyist, Cecelia Grimes. Grimes also made a contribution to Rep. Andrews as an executive of Galaxy Scientific.

Grimes's first lobbying firm, CC Nexus, LLC, was registered in Delaware in October 2002. My guess is that the "CC" stands for Cecilia and Cynthia. If I am right, it means Grimes and Young probably cooked up the lobbyist scheme before the Youngs (Robert and Cynthia) ever moved to Media PA.

Oops! Did I say Grimes and Young cooked up the scheme? I meant Representatives Curt Weldon and C. W. "Bill" Young.

We've been hammering Young on the St. Pete Times blog for a couple of weeks. As a matter of fact, we hit him so hard that his wife and sons came on the blog to defend him. The paper followed up with a front page story about the Youngs being forced to respond to online attacks.

In Dana Priest and Anne Hull's story in the Post, they revealed that Young and his wife had discovered the conditions at Walter Reed in 2004. Because their complaints were ignored, they decided it was too frustrating to visit Walter Reed. They went elsewhere to tend to the soldiers for whom they profess to care so deeply. Young was one of the most powerful men in Congress at the time. It's obvious he cared more about protecting the Bush administration than he cared about the soldiers.

Susan, I wrote about Bill Young's son, Robert, and his wife, Cynthia, in the first comment here.

Do you know anything about them? The reason I ask is that I think there is a lot more to the story about Cynthia Young being a Media PA lobbyist than has been reported to date.

I read that Cynthia Young is 28 and that she graduated law school in 2002. Her husband, Robert, reportedly is attending Widener University in Chester PA which is in Weldon's district. If Robert is around the same age as his wife, he is getting a late start on his education.

As I noted in my comment, Cynthia Young contributed $500 to Rep. Robert Andrews campaign on 9/10/04 and is listed as an executive of defense contractor, Galaxy Scientific.

Several other Galaxy execs including Cecelia Grimes contributed to Andrews on 9/10/04 so it looks like the contributions were organized by Galaxy. Galaxy execs have contributed a substantial amount of money to Andrews and Curt Weldon over the years.

No one in the media has ever reported about Young and Grimes being on the payroll of a defense contractor at the same time they were "lobbying" Congressmen Young and Weldon.

The story put out about Cecelia Grimes and Cynthia Young is that Grimes met Young when Grimes, a real estate agent, handled the rental of a house in Media PA for the Youngs. Grimes and Young supposedly hit it off and Grimes then invited Young to be her lobbying partner.

Yeah, right.

Curt Weldon claims that he first met Cecelia Grimes when she coached one of his kids years ago and then handled the purchase of his house in 2000.

What he did not say is that Cecelia Grimes has been involved in politics for a number of years. She was appointed to the board of a Pennsylvania state commisssion for a three-year term in 1997. In Delaware County where Media is, that means Grimes is a Republican.

Grimes is also fortyish, blonde and attractive and rumours abound that Curt Weldon has had more than one girlfriend.

Cynthia and Robert Young rented a house a few doors away from Grimes in Media. The house has an appraisal value of $340k so the Youngs are not roughing it.

If Weldon and Young colluded with Galaxy Scientific to put Grimes and Young on its payroll, that is a really big deal.

Cecelia Grimes aka CC has been having a sexual affair with Curt Weldon for years---come on, it doesn't take a brain surgeon to figure that out, plus, she told me one night after a few glasses of wine in 1998 when I bought my house and she was my real estate agent. Get real-this is a crooked as crooked gets...Curt Weldon is a fat slob and CC is a retard if she thinks this won't come out and bit her in the ass-it makes me sick when people put the ol'mighty dollar before integrity and then have the balls to lie while they spend our tax dollars.
