House Iraq Bill Mandating Withdrawal From Iraq Passes
Just happened. The House of Representatives has passed a bill that would mandate withdrawal from Iraq by Fall 2008.
It was mighty close -- 218-212, with one member voting "present."
Of course, this is only the beginning -- there are lots of reasons why this particular bill will probably never become law. But it's a milestone of sorts nonetheless.
We'll bring you the roll call as soon as we have it.
Update: The roll call is here.

Even a small 'baby-step' is, at least, a step; but with evidence mounting (if we can believe even half of the daily news from Iraq) that the latest Bush plan (the Surge) is not really going to work, it is a tepid response.
Look at the continuing, and re-directed, efforts of the 'insurgents' and the Shi'a militias to continue the 'civil war', and the accompanying efforts to kill as many American service-personnel as possible.
What the hell are these Americans dying for?? Will every Congressman/woman who voted against even this MILD reprimand to the Bush/Cheney war answer that question?
