Will Gore Run? Hillary Staffers Watching Gore's Waist For Clues

Guess who's watching Al Gore's waist: Camp Hillary insiders! Camp Hillary is eyeing the former Vice President's fluctuating waistline as a sign of his intentions for 2008, Newsday reports. Apparently, Hillary aides think that if Gore sheds pounds it could be a sign he's moving towards running, whereas if he gains weight it could mean he's not.

"If he's running, he'll start losing weight fast," a Clinton insider told the paper. In a rejoinder that could be interpreted as less than flattering to the Vice President, the insider added: "Judging from where he is now, I'd say he's not running."

Thanks for catching that.

News of the obvious! All candidates want to look like they're in shape if they run. Richardson looks like he dropped a few pounds. Gore looked like he's more in the running for a Grover Cleveland look-a-like contest than the presidency at the Acadmey Awards. Last night John Stewart was mocking him saying Gore evidently thought cake was one of the four food groups.

C'mon ab initio don't you know how this works? It's a slow news day and a reporter calls up Hillary's office and can't get the operative to say anything juicy or even newsworthy other than the senator will be in Washington grilling the new DNIA tomorrow. So the reporter asks if she got load of Al Gore the other night on the Oscars, what a load!
and then got this tepid response and voila! It sounds like Hillary's calling reporters to make catty observations about Gore's gut.

mark,
You're forgetting the first rule of liberal blog posters: always assume the worse of Hillary Clinton--always!

It is a fact. Have you guys seen Mrs Edwards? She lost some major lbs.

This constant HRC's bashing is getting very sad. Don't vote for her if you don't like her. There is no need to take shots at HRC.
What has Hillary done to you ppl? She has suffered enough through her husband misdeeds so enough is enough.

The comment by a member of Senator Clinton's staff was more than pathetic. The Goreacle is an international powerhouse who, arguably, will rank among the great movers of the century for his work on global warming. And that fool of a staffer can only make a crack about his waistline. This slightly overweight democratic lady almost definitely will be going elsewhere that HRC for a candidate.

It's not HRC bashing really. I thought it was kinda funny. So Gore gained some weight and would lose it if he ran? Big deal.

I'm glad HRC staff are letting us know, that they're not really worried about Obama, but instead Gore's waistline. Thats the real threat. No worries from the other Dems in the field.

HRC IS GOING TO WIN IT. WIN IT. Win... win win win.

she's hot. she's going to...

I gotta tell ya, that was my first thought when I saw him the other night. This guy is fat and that means he's not running. And the reason I thought that is because in 2003 he shaved off his beard and lost weight sparking mucho speculation that he was getting back in. And far from being the Goreacle back then (I like that nickname) most Dems were relieved. He was about as popular as John Kerry is now.

You know a candidate has too many political advisors when they're tasked with watching a potential candidate's waistline. So what if Gore loses weight? Is Hillary going to send him a muffin basket?

That's my point. You and I can make snide comments about the Goreacle's waistline and no one notices. Highly paid staffers supposedly hired for their smarts(if a campaign is well managed) should say something like "The Vice-President is a great American. The Senator comngratulates him on the Oscar and appeciates his work on global warming." It's not rocket science. It's simply common courtesy.
