More Highlights From Other Dems At DNC Meeting

Hillary, Obama and Edwards might have sucked up all the media attention when they spoke before the DNC winter meeting on Friday, but there were four other candidates who got to speak on Saturday, too: Biden, Richardson, Vilsack, and Gravel. To watch Election Central's highlight videos from their speeches, click here.

First up was Joe Biden, who opened his speech with a one-minute apology for his comments about Barack Obama earlier last week:

Next up came Bill Richardson, promoting a message that he's a rare breed of Governor who can do both domestic and foreign policy.

Mike Gravel's candidacy is in large part based around promoting his message of national initiatives and referenda, but he spent most of his address talking about the Iraq War. One line in particular, and the fairly positive reception he got, should put Hillary Clinton and John Edwards on warning if Gravel is allowed into debates and gets more exposure:

And finally came Tom Vilsack, who expressed his wish to make an America that is free from fear:

Mike Gravel is right. Every Democrat who voted for the war resolution helped create Bush's imperial presidency. Giving absolute war power to Bush before all other options were exhausted was reckless and irresponsible and evidence of an inability to judge character and ability. Those Democrats fucked up the biggest decision in their careers and none of them should be rewarded for being incompetent.

As far as the quality of the speakers goes, Senator Dodd is still #1. He is the only one who came close to expressing my feelings about this country. I loved the "Car in a ditch" analogy.

Hey while we're at it why don't we tell everyone who voted for Bush in 2000 or 2004 not to bother voting for our candidate in 2008! They were reckless and irresponsible and can't judge character and ability either. That'll help.

Hey, why don't we run a candidate who didn't vote for Bush's war resolution? Oops, that would leave Hillary Clinton out in the cold, wouldn't it? I read an article recently in Harper's about how Clinton sucked up to Senator Byrd. Too bad she didn't actually learn anything useful from Byrd.

Remind me again as to why Senator Clinton voted to give unlimited war powers to President Bush. She trusted Bush to do the right thing? She never imagined Bush could fuck up a war so royally? She really did believe that Saddam had WMDs?

And Senator Clinton thought her fellow Democrats including Senator Byrd were wrong to vote against the war resolution because why? Oh, wait - I bet Senator Clinton thinks all of the Democrats in the senate were right about the war resolution, no matter which way they voted.

Yup, it's one big happy party where every Democrat is right, no matter what they say or do.

Even worse.

Those who voted for the bloated Homeland Security
plots after 9/11, are also disqualified from being
the next president.

Lean - intelligent actions should be found for the
domestic and foreign problems.

A smart chess player is needed.

Like Howard Dean.

That would also leave John Edwards out among others. What purpose would it serve to have such a litmus test now? Once you get through all the purity tests what are you left with? Dennis Kucinich. Might as well dump Howard Dean too for saying through out the last presidential election "Invading Iraq was a mistake, but now that we're there we can't just leave.".
