Fox To Air Controversial Scene From "Path To 9/11"

Great Moments In Fox News Dept.... Fox News has announced on the air that they are planning to run the fictitious scene that was cut from ABC's 9/11 special this weekend. This is big news: Remember, that's the fictious scene about how the Clinton administration allegedly let Osama Bin Laden get away — the one that sparked a massive, days-long battle between ABC and Clinton and his defenders that resulted in ABC editing out the scene. You can see Fox's announcement of this on our You Tube below. Amusingly enough, the ad for this upcoming segment was preceded by their usual "You Decide" ad attesting to Fox's self-proclaimed objectivity. To watch the two ads, click here. (Editor's note: These ads actually did run as shown, one after the other.)

It seems like Fox News has become even more brazenly partisan than ever. From the Obama madrassa idiocy to the Newt Gingrich special on "One Nation Under God" to this latest affront, Fox appears to have dropped all pretense of impartiality.

The smell of desperation ...

It's not as if the rest of the movie was a paragon of fact-checked, meticulously-researched truth-telling. The entire thing was a pack of lies. It mattered not one bit that ABC cut that scene. It's also a shame no one took direct legal action against DIsney/ABC, despite threats. Maybe they'll do so against Fox.

Also, the editorial slant here at TPM Media is off. It wasn't "controversial." The correct descriptor is "make-believe." As in, no evidence for, and lots of evidence against.

These are small, sad people who are on the wrong side of history. The South is changing, and the grumpy old men who make up the majority of their audience are dying off.

They want you to be outraged. Ignore them.

Time will take care of Fox news. History will vindicate Bill Clinton, and George Bush is despised by 2/3 of the country.

To quote the Central Scrutinizer, "Ultimately, who gives a shit anyway?".

hatch3- "It seems like Fox News has become even more brazenly partisan than ever. " Not so. It has always been a media arm of the Republican party, masquerading as a news organization.

Christopher - I thought the phrase "the fictitious scene" was an entirely clear and accurate description, no?

This par for the course for FauxNews. Presenting a fake documentary with a fake scene is probably one of Fox's better reporting achievements.
What's really frightening is the revelation that VP Cheney felt that NBC's Tim Russert could be a funnel for WH spin(from the Libby trial yesterday).
Even Rush Limbaugh complained that it was hard work carrying water for an administration that didn't deserve it.
Recent fake news pearls from MSM
1) Obama madrassa
2) Why is there foliage behind Hillary in January
3) Hillary fakes cellphone call on her return from Iraq to avoid questions
4) John Edwards real estate deal
5) Barack Obama real estate deal
6) Harry Reid financial deal
7) Ann Kornblut who got 2 stories concerning HRC wrong requiring editorial corrections both times when she was covering Hillary at the NYT, now gets to continue covering the same candidate at the WashPo.
John Stewart is an amateur at fake news compared to MSM.
It's easy to be upset about Fox, but the real MSM has much to answer for related to fake news including obligatory swipes at Democratic Party members, even when the story is about GOP wrong-doing.

The smell of desperation ...

That really does sum up the situation.

And we need to get used to it. As the old saying goes, 'be careful what you wish for'. The conservatives of the GOP had control of Congress and the WH for 6 years and have been completely repudiated on both foreign (not just Iraq, but N Korea, etc.)and domestic policy. Every major policy initiative has failed, and now most recently, repudiated at the polls.

The right is a cornered animal, and Fox news is their mouth and teeth. Remember how ugly it got in the summer of 2004 as Kerry pulled ahead in the polls? Well, expect this to get much worse.

The right is mean and shameless and rule by fear. If we are going to prevail we had better prepare for an ugly fight, and be ready to push back hard.

Exactly. It MUST be phrased correctly. Controversial is he-said, she-said MSM-style coverage.

Inaccurate or false/falsified would be better descriptions.

Otherwise, you perversely incentivize outrageous claims and behavior. If someone claims something without any evidence, they can't magically then their claim into a "controversial" issue.

user-pic

The headline and link from TPM say controversial, not fictitious.

It's easy to be upset about Fox, but the real MSM has much to answer for related to fake news including obligatory swipes at Democratic Party members, even when the story is about GOP wrong-doing.

Exactly, and the Dems must have a plan in place to deal with this. The GOP has been 'working the refs' for years now and it's paying off. Look at what they did to Dan Rather on a story that is fundamentally accurate!

Obama's response to the madrassa story was refreshing but not nearly enough. We must take a page out of the Right's play book. Notice how the story of Bush going AWOL for months in the Guard quickly became about Dan Rather? Well, Obama needs to turn the story about madrassas into a story about Fox / Gibson etc.

I'm not a media pro, but loud and public demands by Obama for retractions by Fox and shaming them at every opportunity seems like a good start.

Obama is a media star and he gets major press coverage, so use it for God's sake!

my 2 cents.

"Hannity's America"? God save us from that.

user-pic

Could this have anything to do with a Clinton announcing a run for Pres. in 2008?

user-pic

""Hannity's America"? God save us from that."

I think it's a country on Earth-3.

Time will take care of Fox news. History will vindicate Bill Clinton, and George Bush is despised by 2/3 of the country.

Yes, but there are will be a lot of bloodshed and lives loss along with civil liberties during that time. We need to halt this by any means necessary and as of yesterday. Time is not a luxury we have to give Bush.

user-pic

Could this have anything to do with a Clinton announcing a run for Pres. in 2008?

Certainly. But this is a pattern of disinformation, distortion and flat out lies by a broadcast medium. Clinton is nothing more than one more in a long list to be on the recieving end of this propaganda spewing right wing cable cabal.

When are we going to get past calling FOX and Moon's media 'news outlets' and start calling them what they are, 'mind control operations'?

How far has the billions in Moon's overseas, laundered and swindled cash taken us?

Well....Roger Ailes will receive a 1st amendment award in March.

user-pic

I think Fox News competing with Comedy Central is good for America.

user-pic

Next on Fox News Channel: "The B-b-b-but Clinton Show".

user-pic

It's almost like the Fox News Channel is worried their viewership isn't already convinced of this myth.

This is more than desperation. This is outright blatant insecurity.
