Tom DeLay: "Hillary Will Be The Next President"

Newly minted blogger Tom DeLay indulged in a bit of punditry today, predicting that the next President of the United States will be Hillary Rodham Clinton. Human Events mag reports that DeLay dropped his startling prediction in a meeting with fellow righty bloggers hosted by the mag and the Heritage Foundation. DeLay told his listeners that a shadowy alliance between liberal interest groups and the news media would help Hillary gain the White House, the mag reports. “Hillary will be the next president of the United States because they have built a coalition,” DeLay said.

DeLay -- by pure coincidence, no doubt -- raised the specter of this coalition during an event designed to drum up support for his new blog and activism website, an enterprise that seems to have been created to counter the pernicious alliance described above. "DeLay named Clinton loyalists Harold Ickes, Sidney Blumenthal, James Carville, Paul Begala and Joe Lockhart as the masterminds behind the left-wing coalition," the mag continues. "He said that these groups, more than anything else, contributed to the GOP’s fall this November." Of this group, DeLay said: “I have never seen a more powerful coalition."

DeLay had something to say about Barack Obama, too. According to the mag, he claimed Obama’s record in the Illinois Senate was on par with a “Marxist leftist.” It was unclear from his remarks who was to be feared more -- the "Marxist leftist" or the female leader of the most powerful coalition in U.S. history.

How can Obama be both a Marxist and a member of Al-qaeda?

Aw, he's just jerking off the base. Sorry, but only such blunt language can register my disgust for DeLay.

Good thing he caught this in time! If it weren't for DeLose the wingF**ks might have missed this highly motivating piece of important news! I predict DeLame will have a prophetic dream where Hillary and Obama are sitting in tribal wear on the bones of America as President and Vice-President, eating flesh as the specter of a nuclear cloud in the shape of an Arab headdress looms behind them. Next: Obama Bin Laden...

On a brighter note, DeLump's blog should offer lots of hilarious and entertaining reading!

I love this. At this very moment, this post is up giving us the bogeyman story from Tom DeLay's crystal ball, while the lead post on Drum's site consists almost entirely of the words: "Tom DeLay, terminal moron." So which is it guys? Sage or terminally stupid mouth-breather?

I personally have no idea what coalition he's referring to. This, despite having read the article thoroughly. Since when does Hillary have a hold on MoveOn and ACT? And how does Dick Pombo's loss have anything to do with the all-powerful coalition assembled by Hillary the puppet-master? I honestly believe Drum's post to be the right one. If DeLay can't see that the American public roundly rejected the Iraq war and the people who hawked it, then it's no surprise they lost. They've convinced themselves of their own hype that they (and all-powerful coalitions) are able to shape reality. While my experience on campaigns has taught me that this is true to some extent, it's hardly the whole story. DeLay: terminal moron.

He has no idea what coalition he is referring to either. He does not actually believe anything he says, much like the President.

It's a call to arms, not a prediction. The video clip of him on H&C blaming liberals, Democrats and "the media" showed how removed from reality he is. It's perception, not power, he said, on the GOP Pravda network. Now that Democrats are in the majority, he'll say it's about power. And of course, as always, the last word was from Hannity.

Let's see if I have this correct: To the righties Clinton is a left-wing Marxist who only cares about herself. To the lefties she is a right-wing evil woman who only cares about her self.

Oh wait, I don't think DeLay reffered specifically to HRC on this occassion as a Marxist. Maybe DeLay thinks that HRC is also a right-winger who only cares about herself.

So much to digest...

I think you can safely assume that Greg's tone is a bit less than serious in posting this item.

DeLay is to be taken about as seriously as Elmer Fudd, especially in his newly desperate to find something to do phase. He's just trying to rile up the base by assuring them that their opponent will be the dreaded Hillary and thus they need to prepare for her by joining his group.

His remarks on Obama show just how far divorced from reality he is, but I hope the GOP runs with that line. If calling people ideological names with no substance to them whatsoever is what Delay et al have been reduced to, we are going to romp in 2008.

Why can't DeLay just shut up and go back to his extermination business?

He seems to think that anyone who wanted to have regulations regarding the insecticides he could use to exterminate bugs was a Marxist.

The definition with which he should concern himself is that of fascism. He will need to familiarize himself with the definition before Jonah Goldberg's oxymoronic book "Liberal Fascism: The Totalitarian Temptation from Mussolini to Hillary Clinton " comes out and attempts to redefine it.

yeah, looks like i misread greg's post pretty badly.

James Carville, mastermind behind a left-wing coalition?

Heh, I didn't know DeLay was a comedian. Maybe he can find gainful employment in the alleged right wing humor industry, I hear there's an opening.

Hillary may well be the next president, but the Texas Bugman is just trying to scare righties with the political version of 'the boogey(wo)man's gonna get you!'

Personally, like many progressives I don't particularly care much for Hillary, though it would be a delight to see her win just because it will piss off so many misogynistic wackjobs on the right. Maybe they will all have aneurysms and their heads will explode, then we can get back to being a decent nation without them.

I wonder, I wonder....is Barack suppose to be the person who splits the primary votes so that Hillary will wind up the Democratic nominee....similar to how Perot split the primary votes so that Bill wound up the Democratic nominee....is that the grand scheme here.   Are we looking at a pre-determined Clinton/Obama ticket?
