Updates On As-Yet-Undecided House Races

No, the election isn't over yet. Here are a few of today's updates from the eight remaining as-yet-undecided House races:

CT-02: Dem Joe Courtney picked up one more vote after the first of 65 town-level recounts. Reviews of nearly a quarter million more votes are scheduled through Wednesday. [Courtney: 121,316; Simmons: 121,149]

FL-13: The recount is set to begin Wednesday. GOPer Vern Buchanan had a 373-vote lead in the initial count.

OH-15: Ohio election officials are delaying the count of over 9,000 provisional ballots by one day to avoid disrupting the popular Ohio State vs Michigan football game on Nov. 18. GOP Rep. Deborah Pryce currently leads Dem Mary Jo Kilroy by 3,536 votes.

WA-08: GOP Rep. David Reichert is still leading Dem Darcy Burner in this slow-counting state, but many votes remain to be tallied as the vast majority of voters cast ballots by mail. [Reichert: 87,062; Burner: 83,942]

I keep checking back to this site (since the election) for the best information on your "election scorecard."

My concern is that the CA:50 Francine Busby (D) versus Brian Bilbray (R) was called too early. Busby has not conceded because the 180,000 paper ballots have not been counted.

Brad's Blog has the most current information on legal actions against the San Diego County Registrar Haas and his defiance against the law with his delay in counting paper ballots.

Am I correct that the decision in Ohio affects the OH-02 race as well? That race is tighter than OH-15.

Thanks, kate, for the info and the vector to bradblog. Here is a direct link to the story.

Seems to me like this seat is still in play. Odds are that a large majority of those voting with paper ballots were Democrats who were rightly skeptical about the Diebold machines and Registrar Hass.

If we don't fight for every seat, and don't challenge this kind of abuse, it will only embolden those who might try to "steal" the next election. Props to Busby for standing her ground. Let's all support her, and draw more attention to this situation.

From the Washington Secretary of State:
Reichert 98,709
Burner 95,195

as of 11/11 at 6:00 p.m. with many thousands of votes still to count.

I'm trying to find an original reference to 180,000 paper ballots in the Busby-Bilbray contest. That seems very high to me, as many of the House races in California had election day vote totals of about 180,000. Could it be that that is a total for all of San Diego County's paper ballots, and that only a fraction of those are votes from CA-50?

Jeff,
I took that number directly from the San Diego County Registrar of Voters website. I checked back on Saturday and the number was 110,000.

I don't understand why this is not major news. This is huge to me given these big numbers. I heard a lone voice or two on election day on Air America. Other than that there has been no new aside from the Brad Blog.

Maybe tomorrow something will ciruclate to the blogosphere (because I know the corporate media would never acknowledge this).
