Poll: Karl Rove's Approval Rating Dips Below 20 Percent
In the aftermath of the midterm election, the approval rating of Karl Rove, the "architect" of the drubbing suffered by the GOP, has dipped below 20 percent. A new Gallup poll out today finds that Rove's approval rating has slipped to 19 percent, down three points from 22 percent in July -- a downturn that Gallup describes as "essentially no change." Says Gallup: "Given Rove's political image as the architect of the Republican Party's victories of the last six years, it would stand to reason that he might now be singled out for blame over the GOP losses in this past election. But the data show otherwise, at least based on this favorability measure." While Rove's approval rating held steady among Republicans at 45 percent, only 14 percent of independents and seven percent of Democrats have a favorable view of Rove. Full poll here.

I think this just suggests that he's already hit bottom and had no lower to go.
Now if only all of those people who disapprove would recognize his divisive tactics and vote against politicians who use them.

No surprise on Karl. Now that he's wounded, maybe some folks would like to look into his practices?
I've always wondered why "The Architect" agreed with George Bush in 1999 to sell his multimillion dollar fundraising/mail business at a loss, just as Bush was posited for a win. As a result, Karl lost out on making mega$$$ from his mentor's incumbency.
More questions:
-Why did Karl's former business partners buy his bed and breakfast in TX for what seems to be an inflated price?
-Why did Karl Rove bend over backwards to vote in Ingram, TX instead of his real home in DC?
-How can Karl afford such a lavish lifestyle on his $161k annual government salary?
-Is Karl getting kickbacks from his old company (now called Olsen-Shuvalov, based in Austin, TX --- Olsen-Shuvalov has earned millions of $$$ since 2001 from the RNC and from the Bush-Cheney campaigns) --
More questions then answers here:

I think it's safe to say you're grasping at straws when you post an article on the approval ratings of a presidential advisor.
Has there ever been another documented case where a presidential advisor's approval ratings were a topic of discussion?
I think not.
I would venture that John Kerry's personal assistant has very low approval ratings as well.

There's a difference. Do you even know who Kerry's advisor is?
Was Kerry's advisor involved in the leaking of the identity of a CIA agent? Was Kerry's advisor called "The Architect" by his or her boss?
Cmon, Gettysburg. We're not talking about some anonymous backroom figure. Rove is practically a celebrity. He certainly is in political circles.

John Kerry's personal assistant, Marvin, actually rates highly. And he's a nice guy.

Given my response to Gettsburg, I guess I should explain. I mean, Rove's irrelevant now. Along with the rest of the GOP losers.
Really, my comment was funny at one point.

Other than maybe in the Jean "cowards cut and run" pile of steaming Schmidt win in the great Buckeye state, and/or the Bob "I don't approve of that message but so what..." Corker corker in Tennessee... apparently some voters did feel a need to fly in the face of the Rove style of horse crap... At least that's a start.

You were either ignorant of the fact that Karl Rove is one of the five or six most powerful men in the country, or you were pretending not to know this so that you could do your usual defend-the-Republicans/change-the-subject troll thing. Which was it?

This reminds me of a blog from last year:
The 19 Percenters by the much-missed Sundog:
I don't care if it's "should we eat puppies for breakfast". Nineteen percent will say yes.
In the latest poll numbers, only 28% of the country thinks it is going in the right direction. Subtract the Nutball Nineteen from this and it means only NINE PERCENT of the country - not counting the drooling class - supports where Bush is taking us.
If only we could get the names of those nine percent and subject them to remedial education or something. The Nutball Nineteen is and always has been beyond hope - they must simply be kept from power.

Who cares? What's Bob Shrum's approval rating? What's James Carville's approval rating?
None of them is running for anything. This is a waste of bandwidth

Since Rove is actually Bush's "brain" and aspired to creating a "permanent Republican majority" (among other things) he does merit a poll question.

Am almost finished reading James Moore and Wayne Slater's "The Architect" and there is much new information therein that needs attention. In particular, apparently during most of the first term, Rove's channel to Tom DeLay was through Abramoff -- Rove was not a great admirer of DeLay, and had fairly weak relations, but Abramoff had very close relationships over a much longer period. (Explains why Susan Ralston worked for Rove perhaps). Thus for at least four years Abramoff was the "cut-out man" for up and down communications on the operational side of politics between Rove and Oval Office on one hand, and DeLay on the other end of Penn Avenue. This needs much more attention than it has gotten thus far -- and suggests Abramoff may have lots to say about both Rove and DeLay which has not become public -- at least yet.
The authors have a marvelous scene set in Abramoff's Deli, where Rove teaches the secrets of how to control the press to the assembled Pastrami eaters. If anyone ever makes a film about this administration the Rove Lessons set in Abramoff's Deli ought to be a well done scene. (Note to whoever dresses the set -- make the sandwiches thick, with the meat falling out on all sides. Make a visual reference to the all time best eating scene in film -- the Apple Eating scene in Tom Jones.) Sexual Conquest and Political Conquest have much in common.
Anyhow, the book hasn't gotten near the attention it deserves.

Gallup wouldn't bother to poll on Karl Rove if no one cared. They certainly don't poll on any Democratic staffers.
It's like a TV show: Everyone Hates Karl
