MD-SEN: Dem Cardin Prevails Over Steele
As Atrios would say, Bye Mike. CNN and NBC call it for Dem Ben Cardin. Dems have held on to the two at-risk Dem seats -- Jersey and Maryland. Now that Dems have knocked off both Ohio Senator Mike DeWine and Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum, that means Dems are four seats away from taking the Senate.

Knocked off Chafee as well, according to MSNBC. Held Maryland, according to CNN and MSNBC.

Talking recount for VA already, Webb down 23,000 w/ 81% remaining, Northern VA supposedly still has some votes out there for him.
Cross your fingers, say a prayer.

Not looking good for Webb...he's been down by about 25K for a while now. Upper 80% of the vote counted and he's still down. GULP.

Way to go, Gail the Rail! (Kind of reminds me of Ralph Nader, circa 2000.)

Hold the phone: Northern VA still to come (favors Webb), and if less than 1/2%, automatic re-count required by state law.
Breathe.

Update: Of course, as we've all learned by now, the recount is not "required". If requested, it is paid for by the state, if the margin is within 1/2%. Looking like it won't be requested now.
