McKinney's Successor Won't Hit Capitol Police
Representative-Elect Hank Johnson may have added a brand-new order of business to freshman orientation: assuring Capitol Hill Police that they won't get punched. Johnson — who defeated Cynthia McKinney in the Democratic primary — had just such an encounter with the same policeman whose altercation with McKinney ended her career, the Associated Press reports. Johnson told the AP that after apologizing on behalf of his constituents for any embarrassment the incident may have caused the officer, he also added, "I told him if he ever asked me to comply, that I would, that he wouldn't have to worry about that." Good to know.

Was this absolutely necessary?
Do you know how immature, petty and childish this makes both you and Hank Johnson look?

The little detail that stood out to my eyes was the Hank Johnson was a practicing Buddhist. Congress has a Muslim and a Buddhist in it now... that's a milestone for diversity.

I think Eric's post is kind of funny actually.
McKinney made a fool of herself, soured relations with her constituents, and, most unfortunately, emphasized distasteful racial-gender stereotypes when she got physical with the Capitol Hill cop. She is lucky she wasn't one of the Great Unwashed (i.e. one of us lowly private citizens), because her actions would have landed her self-righteous ass in Capitol Hill lock-up. Don't get me wrong, I have no love for the cops, but what McKinney did was both stupid and arrogant.

Do you know what an embarrassment Rep. McKinney has been to the citizens of the 4th district of Georgia?
"Petty, childish, and immature" are adjectives best used to describe Cynthia McKinney, not Hank Johnson.

I am damn glad to see McKinney gone...and especially glad to see her go in the primary. While we ditched one of our most embarrassing representatives, the Republicans held on to their wife-beaters and mistress-stranglers (until the general, anyway).

Let's just hope Johnson proves more durable than Majette. It would be foolish to dismiss McKinney.

Before moving to McKinneys' district, I lived in WashDC.
Sure, we had a brief respite when Majette got the job. But she screwed us over, too, half way into her term, saying God told her to run for the Senate.
It's like I spent most of my adult life being taxed without representation.

You crazy centrist wingnuts down there in Georgia 4, don't you know you're destroying the party by taking all the ideologies out of there except your own? The intolerant radically polite. The first time, McKinney was taken out by an alliance of AIPAC and assorted other outsiders coming down to Georgia and interfering with the locals. All she did was say that George Bush might have known something was up with 9/11, and that she'd wait until the report came out. So then they lied and said she'd said that George Bush was behind 9/11.
I tell you what, it's the "new intolerance!" I'm going to write a letter to Dean Broder! And I'm gonna tell the principal!

Really? Did you bother to read the story? It's the very definition of childish.
We all know how that "Denise Majette is an adult" thing worked out, now don't we? I suspect Hank Johnson will go the very same route.
Now, as for Vernon Jones, he's announced he's running against Saxby Chambliss.............yeah, that's gonna go far! NOT.
Some of you folks might really want to check out the voting comments made in these races, right on the printout........

People bad mouth McKinney yet somehow she was the only person in DC to confront the Bush Admin about their Pre-911 Intelligence, the Military's 9/11/2001 Hypothetical Terrorist Hijacked Plane Attack on America "Maneuvers", the BILLIONS OF DOLLARS MISSING IN THE PENTAGON and much more.
I have heard many veterans hold her up for fighting for them in personal and legislative matters too.
Funny how so many people on a left leaning website cheerlead the removal of a democratic elected official who was removed via Republican scumbag abuse of Georgia's OPEN primary system in which tens of thousands of Republicans turned out to vote in a DEMOCRATIC primary.
Watch "American Blackout" sometime. While they were making the documentary Congressional Security ran after McKinney just going in the gate as if she was a criminal and she said it happened constantly and that was before the last episode by the building entrance where they actually grabbed her.
I noticed no prosecution too. As hated as she was by you "liberal" and conservative racists there was no way she had the power to stifle that prosecution but you people still act like she actually did anything but confront the personnel about treatment that went on like that for YEARS.
