GOP Rep "Disappointed" In The Voters
GOP Rep. Jim Walsh, who narrowly prevailed over Dem challenger Dan Maffei to hang on to his seat in New York's 25th District, has a message for voters who didn't cast their ballots for him: He's "disappointed" in them. In an interview with the Syracuse Post-Standard, Walsh complained that he was upset because he didn't carry Syracuse, even though it's his home town:
"I was very disappointed in the people of the city," Walsh said. "I've worked harder in the city of Syracuse than I have in any other part of the district. I have given my heart and soul to that city. And I'll continue to do that, but I've got a little hole in my heart."
Note to Walsh: You serve at the pleasure of the voters. If they weren't as impressed with your performance as you are, this is an indication of failure on your part -- not theirs.

Perhaps, the voters will make their feelings to Walsh clearer and give him his walking papers in 2008 for obviously he didn't get their 2006 message.

That's a perfectly fine sentiment - one I share - but I wonder whether you genuinely believe it? If you do, presumably you also welcome the voters' "pleasure" at re-electing people like Chris Shays, Jean Schmidt, Heather Wilson and 190-odd other Republican Congressmen? No, didn't think you did.

As a former Syracusan, I must say that James Walsh's re-election disappointed me.
Walsh had the advantage of having a father who had been a notable political figure as the mayor of Syracuse. (Hmm...sounds like a familiar refrain--no pun intended.)
Quite frankly, he's a useless partisan hack who should have been handed his walking papers. I'm disappointed in the voters of the district, they had an opportunity to get rid of this guy but sent him back for another two years of feckless representation.

"You serve at the pleasure of the voters."
Bullshit! This hasn't been true for a very long time. Just look at what's happening with the FISA bill right now. Harry Reid is finally going to make someone filibuster all night, but its not one of the Republicans, who have filibustered 62 times with out once breaking a sweat, NO NO NO, its a fellow Democrat: Dodd.
Is Reid doing this because the "Voters" are demanding that the Telcos have immunity from prosecution? Nope, he's doing it FOR the Telcos.
So again I say Bullshit, our Congress people are by and for Big Business. Its the only explanation for the way this "Democratic" congress is acting.
