FL-GOV: Rove In Snit Over Candidate Who Avoided Bush
So it looks as if Karl Rove has gotten himself into a bit of a snit over Charlie Crist, the GOP gubernatorial candidate who canceled a last minute event rather than be seen in the presence of President Bush and his mid-thirties approval rating. From Reuters:
"All I know is that yesterday morning they apparently made a decision that, rather than being with the governor and the president and 10,000 people in Pensacola, they made it a last-minute decision to go to Palm Beach," Rove told reporters."Let's see how many people show up in Palm Beach on 24 hours notice versus eight or nine thousand people in Pensacola," Rove said.
Rove knows what an awful message Crist's snub of the Prez sends to Republican activists, advisers to candidates, and even voters across the country. No wonder he's pissed.

Yeah, and in Florida of all states!
Just about the only supporters Bush still has are Laura, Jeb, Barney, and Katherine Harris, who actually did show up at the rally, although Bush wouldn't allow her to be seen with him for the same reason that Crist wouldn't allow himself to be seen with Bush.
It's a golden rule of politics -- only campaign with politicians more popular than yourself.

Sorry, this robo-call thing has me very stressed out p0articularly the media's near silence. Reporting it tomorrow night is patently useless unless we are going to re-tun the election. fines, even in the millions of dollars, are of no consequence whatever.

Harris in Florida in 2000 and Ken Blackwell in Ohio in 2004 both saved GW and their now considered pariahs. Yes, beware of Bushes seeking help.

There is a Republican get out the vote program going on in Jacksonville Fl.- infamous Duval County.
Voters are being used to turn out votes for Republican candidate Charlie Crist
A referendum is on the ballot to requiring the city to give back Cecil Field, a closed military base, to the Navy so they can move the base in Virginia Beach to Jacksonville.
The Navy has said they do not want to do this!
The Base in Florida has been closed for 15 years and most of the land has been transferred to an independent agency and an industrial park has been built. Houses, Condos and apartments have been built around the base.
The residents around the base are distressed that their new homes will be devalued and the noise will be unbearable. The industries that are at the park are in limbo and those being recruited are looking elsewhere. The city has spent money on legal fees and studies showing the park over time will produce more and better paying jobs.
The person leading the base return is a support of Crist and used money from his 90 corporations to give money to Crist and used his own money to promote the votejacksonville.com movement to bring back the base.
