VA-SEN: New Poll: Webb And Allen In Dead Heat

GOP Senator George Allen and Dem challenger James Webb are in a dead heat, with Allen at 49% and Webb at 48%, a new Rasmussen Reports poll finds. The poll also finds that voters are proving slow in warming towards Webb: "Voters are also more lukewarm toward Webb personally. Allen earns relatively high "very favorable" (32%) as well as "very unfavorable" (31%) ratings, versus 20% and 21% for Webb. But Webb's overall favorables are slightly higher." Most recent polls show Allen with a slight lead.

Webb better leap on the new trash talk discussing his novels or he is a goner I think.

Might want to mention that Webb was a soldier while Allen was playing cowboy.

Might also mention that McCain thought Webb told it it like it was.

Yeah, I was in Vietnam too. Some folks didn't like us much. Especially those sunshine patriots who preferred to stay home.

The "no comment" from Webb HQs was not encouraging when first reports came out. Webb's campaign wasn't prepared?

Damn.

Best, Terry

I just saw that George Allen campaigned in Harrisonburg, VA. My wife taught at James Madison University in the H-burg. You'd be hard pressed to find a more conservative district than the VA 6th. The congressional Rep., Republican Bob Goodlatte, is running unopposed. If Allen had to make a stop in Harrisonburg, his internals must be telling him soemthing.

He did stump on a red meat issue there - protecting marriage in light of the NJ ruling:

I'm sure it was all in hopes of increasing GOP voter turnout in this heavily GOPed area.
