NY-26: S.O.S.! McCain To Stump For Reynolds
Only a couple of weeks ago, NRCC chief Tom Reynolds was spending all his time worrying about House races across the country. Now, with two polls today showing him trailing Dem challenger Jack Davis, Reynolds is so worried about his own race that he's called on John McCain to bail him out. Ben Smith of The Daily Politics reports that McCain will host an upstate luncheon with Reynolds on Oct. 20 -- see details here. Press question for McCain: What does he think of the fact that Reynolds' former chief of staff claims he viewed Mark Foley as such a big problem that he badgered Dennis Hastert's staff about it at least two years ago -- and all Reynolds apparently did was mention it once to Hastert?

Shame on McCain! Uncritical support of Reynolds, who is clearly right at the heart of the current Foley debacle, brings up serious questions of character and judgement on the part of McCain. I guess this is par for the course for a guy who claims to care about torture and human rights and then creates legislation that does the exact opposite.
Republicans need to stop the denials and campaigning and get their house in order.

So much for the maverick with a sense of values. As if he weren't already compromised. Perhaps he could convince Foley to run again too.

I guess the visit by Mrs. Bush was not good enough for Tom R...
I don't see what McCain thinks he might gain by going to support a guy who has been caught lieing about Foleygate issues. Followed by the press conf. where he shields himself with kids during a Q&A about a it where "adult" themed Q's are going to be asked. Kicker too when the reporters ask that the kids be cleared out, and Mr. Reynolds says NO!!
I don't know much about NY-26 or Tom Reynolds, but it sounds like he can call all the R's he wants too. The damage is done and if he is not outright defeated in the vote, legal issues will soon surface and hurt him later on. Just my two cents.

McCain is a tool. He is Bu$hco's heir-apparent for 2008. Dems need to remind the MSM that he is not a "maverick" and constantly bring up his loathsome support for creeps like Reynolds.
