IL-14: Poll: Hastert Up Only 10 Points After Foleygate Scandal
Foleygate has seriously eroded support for Speaker Dennis Hastert in his own district, the first post-Foleygate poll of his race shows. The poll — which is in the new batch of polls from Constituent Dynamics released today — finds that Hastert is leading Dem candidate John Laesch 52%-42%. It's a sizeable lead, of course. But remember that the Speaker got 69% of the vote in his last election. So his support's plunged some 17 points. Assuming Hastert is re-elected come November, it's a safe bet that it will be by his lowest majority ever.

Come on, John Laesch.
Should Laesch win his race it would be one of the more delightful results in this entire election cycle.
Besides the symbolism of the underfunded, unknown young veteran booting out the corrupt old Speaker, John just happens to be a real fine fellow from all I can tell.

Laesch has reached this point with only about $150,000 in contributions so far. He has some new ads and just needs the bucks to buy air time. Hastert, of course, has virtually unlimited money to spend. Support for Laesch from the netroots and the party has been shamefully weak so far because the "experts" wrote the race off from the beginning. Hastert has the Foley problem as well as local dissatisfaction to contend with. He can be beaten, but it will take a massive wave of support from all the folks who claim they want to see new faces and ordinary non-millionaire Americans have a chance in our political system. IL-14 is a once-in-a-lifetime chance to replace a corrupt old pol with a great new contender. There is still time. Help Laesch deal a historic blow against the very core of the GOP cabal.

Hastert has to go...he did nothing when kids were at risk from a sexual predator. That is totally unacceptable and it is implausible that he did not know, maybe he didn't see the sexually explicit IM's...but Foley's predator gay behavior was well known as he frequented gay bars in DC.
Laesch needs to bang him hard ...with Hastert did nothing when kids were at risk.

Right, he cruised for minors amongst the pages. The point, that he was a known homosexual by his frequenting gay bars indicated who would be his prey, i.e. young males.. That was the 'well known' secret. Hastert was provided additional information that demonstrated that he was a sexual predator of young male minors in the page program.
Sexual predators are not just predators they have sexual preferences...knowing that someone is a homosexual predator specifys who their likely target of interest is based on gender. Just as knowing that someone is a pedophile specifys their target is children. Individuals who were not the same gender as Foley have less reason to beleive he would target them. Responsible adults know who to warn about the predator.
An extremely obvious point, when you are concerned about the welfare of children. No one worried about their son being hit on by Clinton or Gary Condit. But reasonable folks sure as heck would be concerned and warn their daughters vs. their sons.
Same with Foley, reasonable people concerned about the welfare of children and in positions of leadership would warn the male pages much moreso, then the females. While at the same time taking the appropriate actions of notifying authorities of the problem.
In short a sexual predator is not just a predator they can be homosexual, hebephile or pedophile. Just as a Jew can be modern orthodox , Hassidic or Zionist.
