IL-06: Duckworth's Closing Ad: "I'm Proud Of My Service"
So we've received a copy of the closing ad being run by Dem vet amputee Tammy Duckworth. It quickly recaps her bio and the rationale for her candidacy: She served our country when called, and suffered severe injuries for her country, but now sees that the GOP leadership is refusing to recognize that the Iraq war is a disaster. Duckworth looks directly into the camera, and says: "I'm proud of my service in Iraq, and the sacrifice I made when our country called. But two years later, things are even worse." It also runs through Duckworth's newspaper endorsements, which are compelling.
It's a good ad. The question now, however, is whether the Duckworth campaign has the cash it needs to run this and other ads often enough. A poll out today from Illinois' Daily Herald shows that if the Duckworth forces lack the resources to give a real final push, it could cost them the race: It found the race a dead heat.

RIGHT FOOLS
I just donated $50 to her campaign in honor of my Mother's birthday.
Anyone care to match me?

Good point! Duckworth's winning in IL-06 depends on how often this ad is run! If our team doesn't win, it'll be because this ad wasn't run enough! Excellent! I agree completely!

If voters are ever really going to reject negative campaigning and dirty politics, IL-06 would be a great place to start.
Duckworth has maintained the high ground over the detestable Peter ("She'll Cut and Run from Iraq") Roskam.

I'm a little worried that few Dem challengers are above 50% at this point. I hope the anti-GOP tide is real and hits hard on November 7th.

That poll was taken 10-18/24. It's a week old but the Herald is just releasing it now. That was at the end of the dark period when Tammy was getting buried on TV with no response.
I just gave another $50 to the DCCC on a 3 for 1 match up. I'm a volunteer for Duckworth and yesterday was a good canvassing day as far as I can tell from my little part of it and the 3 college kids in my car. We hit a lot of mid to upper middle class homes during a blessed Bears blowout so people weren't angry at being dragged away from the TV. Lot of indies going our way. Surprisingly enough I ran into a little resistance in one of the poorer neighborhoods. Low info casual voters tend to believe what they see on TV. They probably won't vote. One woman told me she wasn't voting for anybody period. As she closed the door I called her a communist. I got a "whatever". Despite that we stay mostly positive, telling folks about the 4 major papaer endorsements and saying Roskam's been endorsed by his wife. I point out her website addy on the
flyer and tell them she has 14 issue papers there that spell out her real positions on immigration, taxes, Iraq you name it. I alos point out that Roskam has 6 issue post s on his site but not one word about Iraq, Afghanistan, or Al Qaeda. I emphasize Not. One. Word. about the most problem our nation faces today.
Tammy really needs cash to run that commercial plus phonebankers and canvassers. We had about 100 yesterday but the Repubs flew in about 80 staffers from Washington to lit drop. They are spending money like drunken sailors.
They've even been mailing out little packages about 7" x 3" x 1" labelled "America's start up kit". Inside are just 3 pieces of attack lit slandering Duckworth. That's a whole lot cash to spend fooling people into looking at that garbage.
The latest poll is still the Dem poll with us up 44-43. She can do this but she needs our help. We have an advantage in volunteers willing to phonebank and canvass but we need more. As she says we are her legs now.

The candidate who will lose the most in the 6th district might be Barak Obama.
We all watch the ads with our charismatic ,well-spoken presidentesque stood sholdier to sholdier next to Duckworth. Obama telling us to ignore her opponent's claim that ""Tammy supports Kennedy's immigration legislation." To imply that Tammy would never support such a liberal piece of legislation.
Barak then tells us that Duckworth endorses the McCain plan.
For those who are unaware. The McCain plan IS the Kennedy reform. aka Kennedy-McCain
Is the freshman senator from Illinois being totally honest with his constituients ? Big NO on that one. Are these two democrats ashamed of being associated in a political ad with Ted Kennedy??Thats how it reads.
Though treated like prom royalty, the sparkle is starting to fall off the golden boy.
my idle observations
