WY-At Large: GOPer Poll-Testing Attack Calling Dem "New York Liberal"
In a sign that GOP Rep. Barbara Cubin is worried about holding her seat, her pollsters are now testing an odd new message: They're asking voters how they'd feel about Dem Gary Trauner if they knew he was a "New York liberal." The Jackson Hole News reports that several locals claim they've gotten calls that start with general questions before raising the "liberal" line and claiming Trauner favors a national gun registry -- which Trauner insists he oppposes. Trauner alleges a "push poll." But a Cubin spokesman insists it's just a test of negative message for future ads. Either way, the calls show that the battle for the seat—which should have been a GOP lock—is instead a hard-fought one.

Semd a spokesman: a cigar-chomping Noo Yawk cabbie, and say that's a liberal. OTOH, you could ask how many Noo Yawkers it takes to change a light bulb, and IBEW Local 3 would say "20. It's inna contract. Youse gotta problem wit dat?"

Ok, this is where we remind REp. Cubin that it was New York liberals who were on the front lines of terrorism on 9/11, that if being a New York liberal means acting like the hundreds of firefighters who climbed 110 stories with 50 pounds of line on his back knowing he was unlikely every to come down, if being a New York liberal means being one of the an scores of off-duty cops who ran to the site to organize an evacuation in the midst of utter chaos, if being a New York liberal means those construction workers who breathed toxic soup and worked tirelessly for weeks on end amidst still-burning rubble to search painstakingly for victims' remains, than yeah, we're New York liberals.
Our guy in this race should dare Rep Cubin to go the site at ground zero and say that.
These bastards have been exploiting 9/11 every which way for better than 5 years, making political profit off of American's deaths, and if they want to run against New York, there is some very deep, dark karma that ought to be brought to light.
Sorry for the melodrama. Maybe the response should not be all that over hte top.
But damn.
