PA-SEN: Hard-Hitting Casey Ad Blasts Santorum's "Trash"
Dem Bob Casey has just released a ferociously hard-hitting ad blasting back at GOP Senator Rick Santorum's recent ad depicting Casey donors behind bars. Casey's TV spot features popular Dem governor Ed Rendell mounting an aggressive defense of Casey: "To somehow insinuate that there are crooks or criminals behind his campaign, that sort of stuff is trash." The ad continues: "And it was Santorum who created a corrupt lobbying system exploited by felon Jack Abramoff." It concludes that Santorum is "everything that's wrong with Washington." Don't miss this very tough ad -- you can view it right here.

I haven't seen the ad, but Rendell owes Casey a solid because about a month back he was quoted as saying how well he worked with Sen. Santorum. .... This just in. The latest Rasmussen poll gives Casey a 10 point lead, with Green Party candidate Carl Romanelli in the mix (http://rasmussenreports.com/2006/State%20Polls/September% 202006/PennsylvaniaSenate.htm)....Santorum made a big gain during the summer when he spent lots of money on ads while Casey essentially did the county fair circuit. But that seems to have evaporated. As was noted by political analysts/pollsters Terry Madonna and Mike Young, Santorum managed to bring down Casey's favorability rating but did little to increase his own. Now Casey is spending money on ads, but
I think Santorum still has about $10 m. and Casey about half that. Don't count Santorum out. He is a bare knuckles brawler.

Bush and the Republicans fear losing one of the houses of Congress then having to face someone like Henry Waxman chairing a committee with subpoena power. To this extent they will pull out all the stops to keep this from happening, bringing to the fore campaign and election day tricks even 'they' were reluctant to engage in before. Republicans wouldn't fear a committee headed by Lieberman, but someone like Waxman is a whole new ball game. If the Dems take the Senate they can block Bush judges, but if they take the House the investigations into the Bush gang and Republican Party and Congressional skullduggery will be much more intense. A Dem House and a few added seats in the Senate would be a good payday. On the other hand, if the people keep the Republicans in power they deserve what they get.

Yes, but what if it isn't "the people" who keep them in power? What if it's Diebold and other dirty tricks?

Yep, Santorum's "christian values" go out the window when election time nears. Then again, these "values" go out the window in Santorum's ever day performance in the Senate.

The funny thing is that Rendell hadn't even seen the ad before he gave the comment to our ABC station in Pittsburgh:
