PA-10: Carney Campaign Slams GOPer Sherwood Over 9/11 Fundraiser
We thought fundraising on 9/11 was a no-no -- particularly in the viw of Republicans, who supposedly are so much more serious than Dems in grasping the true significance of the attacks. But now the campaign of Chris Carney -- the Dem challenger to GOP Rep. Don Sherwood -- has just sent us a copy of an invitation which appears to show that Sherwood is indeed throwing a political fundraiser on 9/11. And Carney campaign manager Andrew Eldredge-Martin hammered Sherwood in an interview with Election Central. View the invite here.

Carney campaign manager Eldredge-Martin is demanding that Sherwood cancel the event. "We won’t be campaigning," Eldredge-Martin tells us. "It would be appropriate for the Sherwood campaign to take 9/11 as a day of remembrance and a day not to campaign."
A rep for Sherwood didn't return calls for comment.
UPDATE: A Sherwood aide now tells us the event has been rescheduled.

Using "9/11 the event" for fundraising literature is pretty much debatable, but using the date?
I dunno--it's still a day of the week and has been for eons going back and eons going forwards. Until you make it an official government day with parades, a paid day off, and a sheet sale at Macy's--it's still ALSO just a day of the week.
I happen to be getting more root canal work on 9/11--I didn't choose the day and appointment specifically for self-flaggelataion--it happened to be the only open slot in the appointmant book.
What are you doing on 9/11--are you going to be writing anti-bush or pro-democratic opinions? If so YOU are using the day for political purposes too. AFIC, this looks like the pot calling the kettle black where Carney is using 9/11 for his back-handed purpose too.
