OH-18: Dems Demand 60 GOPers Return Cash To Disgraced Ney
On the heels of Bob Ney's guilty plea today, House Democrats are circulating a list of more than 60 GOP lawmakers who have accepted a combined $472,000 in campaign contributions from the disgraced Congressman, challenging them to return the money. The list reflects an ongoing effort by Dem strategists to nationalize corruption as an issue -- a strategy that polls suggest has had mixed results. As of now, at least one Republican House member, Rep. Geoff Davis (KY-04), is apparently refusing to return the money. The Blotter has the list here.

This is sad. It's a bit late in the game for Dem strategists to be workshopping ideas on nationalizing corruption. The issues are Iraq, change and reining in Bush! Can you imagine a sequence of events where a voter (never mind a "low information voter") casts a vote based on this?
I've been fretting that Dems are sitting on the sidelines while Maverick Sraight Talking Republican Saint John McCain makes a show of taking on the White House, letting the GOP change the subject from Iraq. Now it looks like our side is trying to change the subject anyway!
