OH-12: Dem. Shamansky Sinks $1 Million of Own Cash into Campaign
Although Ohio's 12th district has not been considered to be among the more competitive House races this year, Democractic Challenger Bob Shamansky has attempted to give his campaign against three-term Republican incumbent Pat Tiberi a shot in the arm with an influx of $750,000 of his own money on Wednesday, bringing the total amount he has contributed to his own campaign to over $1 million. More after the fold.
Despite Shamansky's personal contributions, Rep. Tiberi is still leading in fundraising with $1.72 million in his campaign fund as of the latest financial reports. Furthermore, due to Shamansky's use of his own money, Tiberi is allowed by federal election law to raise more money from his contributors, with individuals now able to donate $6,300 instead of the previous $2,100 limit.
