MD-04: Wynn Campaign Fakes Endorsements
Pro-war Dem Rep. Albert Wynn, who's fending off a fierce challenge from antiwar Dem Donna Edwards, now appears to be resorting to inflating his endorsements in a last-ditch effort to stave off a loss in tommorow's primary. The Washington Post reports on several recent examples of this, including a "Women for Wynn" mailing that bore the name of Montgomery County council member Marilyn Praisner -- who subsequently told the paper that she'd told Wynn not to use her name. Edwards is still considered to be the underdog, but this can't be the kind of publicity the Congressman wants on the eve of tomorrow's primary. More after the jump.
More from the Post:
Late yesterday afternoon, Wynn said he called Praisner to apologize for what he said was a clerical error. At least two labor unions -- the Service Employees International Union and the Teamsters -- also have raised questions about Wynn's use of their names on his literature.
Wynn lists the two groups among about 40 that "want to send Al Wynn back to Congress."
"We were surprised that our name was on the literature," said Ellen Golombek , director of government affairs for SEIU.
Curt Clifton , a spokesman for Wynn, said Wynn received contributions from the union and the Teamsters with letters of support for his reelection bid. Golombek said she was looking into whether a check was sent to Wynn last year; none were sent in 2006, she said.
She added that the union "elected not to endorse in this congressional race."

Are Democrats becoming a "one-issue" political Party?
One thing that has always repulsed me about conservative evangelical, Republicans is their single-minded devotion to the abortion issue. Any Republican can vote 99% along Party lines for years, but a single deviation from opposing abortion will erase any future endorsement from fundamentalist conservatives forever, and more than a few decent moderate Republican leaders have seen their careers cut short because of this political litmus test.
I see the same thing happening today in the Democratic party with another issue: the Iraq War. Many devoted, long term Democrats that have voted strictly along Party lines +90% of the time are now facing the wrath of the hard-left progressives in their Party simply because they refuse to call for an immediate withdrawall of American troops from Iraq, regardles of the consequences.
Of course the poster child for this new Democratic litmus test is Joe Lieberman, but I have heard extreme criticism recently aginst Maria Cantwell of Washington, Ben Nelson of Nebraska, Hillary Clinton of New York, Dianne Feinstein of California, Thomas Carper of Delaware, Herb Kohl of Wisconsin Bill Nelson of Florida, and even House Speaker Nancy Pelosi for their refusal to demand immediate withdrawal of troops from Iraq by the Bush administration. It seems the new slogan is, "Call for surrender in Iraq, or surrender your job in Washington!"

Who exactly is calling for an immediate withdrawl of American troops from Iraq?
Give me names, please.
