CT-05, CT-SEN: Lamont Raising Money For Fellow Dem -- By Tying His GOP Foe To Lieberman

This is interesting -- Ned Lamont is lending his star-power among the Dem base to fellow Connecticut Dem Congressional candidate Chris Murphy by sending out fundraising email which slams his GOP opponent, incumbent Rep. Nancy Johnson, by tying her to Joe Lieberman:

Republican Nancy Johnson and Lieberman Party candidate Joe Lieberman have a lot in common these days. They share a "stay the course" message on the war in Iraq...

I'm sure Chris never thought he'd have to run against Joe Lieberman's GOP-GOTV operation. But just like we'll defeat Senator Lieberman again in November, with your support, we'll help elect Chris Murphy as well.

It's a pretty interesting dynamic, isn't it? Lamont slams GOPer Johnson by tying her to a longtime Dem (Lieberman) -- which in turn enhances Lamont's own credibility with the Dem base. What a mess.

Got a broom?

It will be just the shot in the arm the country needs if Connecticut get's the "broom" out.

heh. Good things come in small packages, I've been told.

I'm not the only person in this state that believes Lieberman is more closely aligned with the GOP, and has been for at least the last 8 years. It's also something that Al Gore was well aware of...which lead to him choosing Lieberman as his running mate in 2000. Ned Lamont is right on the money when he points out the similarities between Joe and Nancy Johnson.

At best, Lieberman is even to the right of being a Blue Dog Democrat, his politics fitting easily into the anti-populist philosophies of the DLC.

I agree with the late (and sorely missed) Senator Paul Wellstone, preferring those Democrats that hail from the Democratic wing of the Democratic party, rather than those, like Lieberman, that come from the DLC, or Republican, wing.

Ned Lamont is a Populist. John Edwards is also a Populist, as is Barack Obama, Robert Byrd & Cynthia Matthews (CA)... among others. I'm hoping that the tide is turning, and we are getting back to our true Populist roots.

And workerbee...you are 100% correct about good things coming in small packages...I know this to be absolutely true.
