VA-SEN: Allen Apologizes To "Macaca"
After taking no shortage of heat from national Dems for failing to apologize directly to young James Webb (D) aide S.R. Sidarth for calling him "Macaca," it appears that Sen. George Allen has finally broken down, called the kid, and said, "I'm sorry." The Hotline notes that the news of the call was buried at the bottom of a Webb press release chastising Allen for taking so long: "Twelve Days Later, After Numerous Excuses and Apologies to Everyone But Sidarth, Senator Allen Calls S.R. Sidarth to Apologize." We get the sneaking feeling that this is something Allen really, really, really didn't want to do.

Add this to the anecdotes from Allen' own sister about what a sadistic bully George Felix Allen is and despite the late apology, the damage is already done. This was Allen's "Dukakis In The Tank" moment. His chances of being President now are just about zero.
