GA-04: African Americans Split on McKinney -- Johnson Winning Whites

We noted yesterday that based on the latest Insider Advantage poll, Rep. Cynthia McKinney (D) seems headed for a big-time meltdown in today’s primary run off election against challenger Hank Johnson (D).

Now there's still more evidence that McKinney's about to get tossed. Check out this intriguing detail from that poll that was only made available this morning: It turns out that of African Americans, who make up slightly more than half of the district’s voters, 50% back McKinney and 50% back Johnson -- a near-perfect split. With seven percent still undecided, and whites predicted to overwhelmingly back Johnson, this spells even more trouble for McKinney.

Meanwhile, early reports from the field trickling into Georgia blogs suggest relatively high turnout so far. Expect a winner by around 10 P.M.
