AZ-05: Hayworth And Mel Gibson In Right-Wing Flick
Rep. J.D. Hayworth -- proud author of a book on illegal immigration -- is now starring in a new documentary on the subject! The film, which looks to us like a species of right-wing anti-immigration porn, is produced by Citizens United, the conservative group that brought us Celsius 41.11. The doc also carries an appearance by right-wing bete noir Mel Gibson, who's role in the movie is as yet unclear. Hayworth's ideas on immigration policy are getting hammered by Dem challenger Harry Mitchell, and Hayworth has recently taken flack for quoting notorious anti-semite Henry Ford in his book. The movie premieres next Thursday. For now, the trailer is right here:

Isn't Mel Gibson an immigrant?

Yes, but even when painted blue, he's white.
What astonishes me is that the border gets all the press, as Mexico is going through one hell of an election crises - which is almost totally ignored up here in el Norte. It's as if Mexican politics have no chance of affecting the crossings. Lopez Obrador was villified as a threat to the Mexican stock exchange - an issue that surely is #1 with the masses of Mexican poor folks, yes? Cauldaron, for his part, will centainly create a "stay at home" economy for Mexico, right? Today in Chiapas the PAN backed PRI candidate is yelling foul ball at his loss to the PRD victor (which sort of neutralizes PAN's resistance to a nationwide vote recount, at least on ethical grounds.)
Meanwhile, close to home (I live in Imperial County, CA, about 20 minutes from the border) a woman was found dead in the New River yesterday, and a badly decomposed body was found out in the Colorado Desert, and about 4 bodies were found east near Yuma.
But noooo...up here in the States people, left and right, who object to the Mexican diaspora ignore the thing that might actually keep Mexicans at home. AMLO's promise was to cater to the poor, and his record shows that he would honor his promises. I'm surprised the Oligarchs haven't shot him - but heck, the compassionate conservatives in the US have taught them how to win elections regardless of the vote.

I took a look at Citizens United because I didn't know anything about the organization.
According to the 2004 990s filed by Citizens United and the Citizens United Foundation, $4,040,738, which is 42% of combined revenues of $10,557,847, went to fundraising expenses.
Only 58 cents of every dollar contributed to Citizens United goes to support conservative causes. I would think conservatives could get a better return on investment elsewhere.
Then again, I suppose it is in our best interest to urge conservatives to throw lots of money at organizations like Citizens United.
The donors do not get much for their money. The Citizens United website is outdated and boring. It does not even have any issues under "Issues".
When I tried to access two of the videos, I noticed the data came from two websites so I copied the addresses and checked them out.
One site, www.cuspots.com, has a bunch of oddball stuff on it in the form of photos, movies etc. Among other things, you can find the 92-page script for Border War, some Fred Thompson audio files and a dozen photos of Bill Frist with someone named Lindsey Williams and an unidentified black man.
The other website is cu.campaignsolutions.com which is the same website as CitizensUnited.org. I don't understand technically how one web address is the same as another one. Campaign Solutions is at the www.campaignsolutions.com address and it is a full-service Republican voter contact and communications firm.
I suspect that the David N. Bossie and the other officers of Citizens United were, at one time, billing Citizens United through a company named National Media Enterprises, Ltd. National Media's corporate registration was terminated in June 2003.
What I don't know is whether David N. Bossie is the Dave Bossie of Bossie & Associates registered in the District of Columbia as communication consultants.
There is also a Dave Bossie Report registered as a fictitious name with an address in the state of Washington. Douglas Ramsey, Citizens United treasurer, lives in Seattle.
Floyd G. Brown, Chairman of Citizens United, is also the executive director of the Reagan Ranch and the Young America's Foundation. I might check out these two organizations if I get a chance in the next day or two.
I just don't get conservatives and I don't think I'll ever figure out why they donate to organizations like Citizens United. 58 cents on the dollar is a ripoff, imho.

I really find it hard to believe that Hayworth wrote a book on any topic. In fact I don't believe it but give him a teleprompter or script from anyone and I'm sure he'll perform well.
I lived in Phoenix during the last half of Reagan and all of Bush 41's term. Hayworth was a red-faced third string sports reader on the weekend news at a local channel with the credentials of a desipated former college football star who had a very creepy resemblance to Howdy Dowdy.
Hayworth is a great example of the GOP makeover machine: spinning shit into a winning election. Hayworth has handlers who keep him from drugging and drinking, forcing him to slim down, hooking him up with a cosmetic surgeon specializing in laser work, feeding him spin and topping it all off with his "finding" Jesus. This was all done of course in order to enable his public visibility, kinda like what Louis B. Mayer did with actors in the 1930's an 40's. As Al Swearengen says "It's a fuckin put-up job." Hayworth is the premier example of the GOP version of Frankenstein's monster and this thing wants a Senate seat. God help the people of Arizona and all the rest of us. And he stills looks like a creepy Howdy Dowdy.

I glanced at what Guidestar had on the Young America's Foundation and I just have to share the foundation's self-assessment with everyone here:
"Young America's Foundation assesses it's success by: (1) the amount of first-time students who attend our programs, (2) whether we utilize the Reagan Ranch to increase understanding of the principles and accomplishments of Ronald Reagan and the Reagan Revolution, (3) whether we continue to train ouststanding [sic] journalists, like prior graduates John Fund and Ann Coulter, from the National Journalism Center."
LOL - More Ann Coulters is exactly what this country needs now!
I'm going to take another look at the Young America's Foundation 990s later if I can and see if anything else pops up.
