GA-08/12: Democrats Lead By Wide Margins in Overall Fundraising
Despite Republican advances in fundraising, Rep. Jim Marshall (D-08) and Rep. John Barrow (D-12) still enjoy large cash advantages over their challengers, recently released second quarter financial disclosure forms show.
The two Georgia races are seen as possible Republican pick-ups, but the Democrats’ continued cash advantage poses a problem for the Republicans.
In the 8th district, former Rep. Mac Collins (R) raised $222,335 in the second quarter to Marshall’s $185,912, but Marshall had $1,206,884 cash on hand at the close of the period, compared to Collin’s $793,234.
Nearby in the 12th district, Barrow raised $278,051 and had $1,338,950 cash on hand at the end of the period. His challenger, former Rep. Max Burns (R), raised $219,917 and had $733,393 in cash.
