SC-GOV: PIGS on the Plane Grounded
Things appear not to be going too well on Election Day for South Carolina Republican governor hopeful Oscar Lovelace. In a press release put out this afternoon, his campaign reports that due to inclement weather caused by Tropical Storm Alberto Lovelace has cancelled his planned “Fly-Around” the state today.
Last week, Lovelace flew across the state with his “PIGS” in an effort to rally support for his long shot candidacy. A good showing by Lovelace might have suggested that Democrats have a better chance of ousting the incumbent Republican governor Mark Sanford. Pundits have offered 30 percent as the target number for Lovelace to beat, and hence show that Sanford is in trouble.
But Lovelace’s lack of appearances today along with the rain may lower his vote total.
Current reports indicate that throughout the day turnout has indeed been light—a good sign for neither the Democrats nor Lovelace and his PIGS.
