PA-07: Weldon’s Secret Mission Falls Through; WMD May Never Be Found
Rep. Curt Weldon, who has been claiming for some time that there are WMD in Iraq, had plans to go find them himself. It was to be a “personal political mission,” as the Philadelphia Inquirer reports. But Weldon’s source on all these conspiracy theories, a former Air Force special investigator Dave Gaubatz (profiled in the Times last week), didn’t like the congressman’s PR-oriented approach. Gaubatz wanted Weldon to alert the Defense Department; Weldon wanted to do the searching himself and keep it secret until they actually found something.
"It was treated as an election issue that would get votes," Gaubatz said. "I've never been involved in politics, so it was a very big eye-opener to me." According to Gaubatz’s website, Weldon told him he didn’t trust intelligence officials, and that they would try to take credit for locating the WMD.
According to Gaubatz, Rep. Peter Hoekstra (R-Mich.) would be Weldon’s companion on the trip. Hoekstra’s spokesperson denies it.

For Rachel Weiner & readers: Good article. I had also arranged private meetings for Congressman Weldon to meet with Iraqi citizens who made initial reports in 2003. The meeting was on 4 May 2006. Congressman Pete Hoekstra was also present. America is not prepared for another major terrorist attack. The Congressmen need to work with me to inspect the sites. I do not want any nation to experience another attack like Sept. 11th. Wiliam Bender of delcotimes.com wrote an article for Sunday, 2 July 2006. Also my website is updated www.davegaubatz.com, thanks, Dave Gaubatz
